In 1905 twelve motorists formed the Automobile Club of Queensland (ACQ). From these humble beginnings the ACQ received its Royal Charter in 1921 and become the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ). In 1971 RACQ began to offer insurance and In 1995 they formed a joint venture with GIO Australia.
