IAG has a portfolio of general insurance businesses. It has leading and established brands across its home markets of Australia and New Zealand, a growing presence in Asia, and other specialist underwriting operations.  IAG underwrites around $7.8 billion of insurance premiums each year. The Group employs around 13,500 people.

IAG's heritage dates back to 1925 when the NRMA started providing insurance to its members in NSW and the ACT.  IAG operates some of Australia's leading general insurance brands including NRMA Insurance, CGU, SGIO, SGIC and Swann Insurance. In 2009, it also launched an online insurance business called The Buzz.
